This hotel is located in one of the best locations in the capital of Chile, Santiago. The building is emblematic of the country's hospitality industry, as it was one of the first luxury hotels. Our client was remodeling it due to a brand change since it went from being a Grand Hyatt to being a Mandarin Oriental hotel. RMA was hired to design the Presidential Suite and take it to a higher level of sophistication that met the brand's new standards. We sought to give it that last layer of luxury that this incredible hotel deserved, taking advantage of the impressive views of the city of Santiago.
The design concept for this room emanated from two distinct yet interconnected aspects. Firstly, our aim was to transform the space into a luxury apartment, aligning with a highly sophisticated program. Concurrently, we endeavored to incorporate first-class finishes inspired by the unique geography of Chile. To achieve this, we conceived a fully equipped open kitchen, strategically positioned to facilitate events and meals. This central kitchen acted as the nucleus of the public space, creating an axis that elegantly divided the living area into two sectors, optimizing panoramic views.
Further enhancing the room's functionality, a customized movie theater, complete with a bespoke popcorn machine, occupied one side of the space, while an office defined the opposite end, demarcating the boundary toward the main bedroom. The layout of the main bedroom was thoughtfully arranged to maximize the breathtaking views, featuring a dedicated lounge area facing the bed. The bathroom was conceptualized as a spa experience, incorporating steam showers and whirlpool tubs.
Notably, the room was designed with separate entrances for service and guests, ensuring seamless service without inconveniencing the occupants. This thoughtful planning allowed for discreet and efficient room maintenance without disrupting the comfort of the guests.
